Electric Thrills Meet Historic Shores - E1 World Championship 2025 in Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is set to welcome one of the most dynamic and futuristic sporting events on the global calendar. On June 13 and 14, 2025, the iconic Adriatic city will host the E1 Dubrovnik GP 2025, part of the UIM E1 World Championship – the world’s first and only all-electric powerboat racing series. With the Adriatic Luxury Hotels as presenting partner, this spectacular event will place Dubrovnik alongside elite destinations like Monaco, Miami, Jeddah and Doha, bringing together elite athletes, international celebrities, innovation leaders and environmental pioneers.

A New Kind of Racing: Electric, Sustainable, Star-Studded

The UIM E1 World Championship redefines marine motorsport. Using fully electric hydrofoil RaceBird vessels, the competition features nine teams, each composed of one male and one female pilot, racing head-to-head on a water track marked by anchorless electronic buoys, minimizing environmental impact while maximizing excitement.

Each RaceBird is a technological marvel: 7.5 meters long, equipped with a 150-kW electric motor, and capable of speeds up to 50 knots (93 km/h). These vessels literally rise above the water on hydrofoils, gliding smoothly while delivering high-adrenaline action. Designed with a cockpit inspired by Formula 1, the RaceBird blends cutting-edge design and sustainability into a single electrifying experience.

And the excitement doesn’t stop at the boats. Teams are backed by some of the biggest names in global sport and entertainment, including Tom Brady, Rafael Nadal, Will Smith, Didier Drogba, Virat Kohli and even a new team launched by LeBron James. With their eyes now set on Dubrovnik, the spotlight on Croatia has never shone brighter.

The impact of E1 goes far beyond the track. The series is rooted in a mission to promote ocean conservation and aquatic ecosystem regeneration, with each team actively involved in local outreach and environmental efforts. In Dubrovnik, that mission will take center stage, aligned with the city’s and Croatia’s growing focus on sustainable tourism and green innovation.

When Ancient City Walls Become Grandstands and the Sea a Racetrack

The racecourse, uniquely positioned between Dubrovnik’s UNESCO-protected Old City and the lush island of Lokrum, will offer spectators the rare chance to watch the races from the city’s ancient walls. With natural beauty, historical grandeur and futuristic speed colliding in one location, the E1 Dubrovnik GP promises a setting unlike any other.

The E1 Dubrovnik GP 2025 is designed as a two-day spectacle:

  • June 13 will be dedicated to testing, free practice and qualifying rounds, giving fans a preview of the powerful RaceBirds in action as teams fine-tune their strategy.
  • June 14 brings the main event: play-off races, elimination heats and the grand finale. Each race consists of four laps plus a joker lap, adding tactical layers to the action.

The Rise of E1: A Vision Turned Global Phenomenon

E1 Championship was born from the idea of Alejandro Agag, founder of Formula E and Extreme E, and Rodi Basso, a former Formula 1 engineer. What started as a vision in 2020 quickly evolved into a groundbreaking international series. The first race took place in Jeddah in 2023, with Team Brady claiming victory. Since then, E1 has expanded to include stops in Doha, Lagos, Lago Maggiore, Monaco and now Dubrovnik.

Each event is more than a race, it’s a celebration of sport, technology and sustainability. The series is governed by UIM (Union Internationale Motonautique) and has already attracted a massive global following, millions of viewers and extensive international media coverage.

With Dubrovnik now on the calendar, the championship continues to break new ground, adding to its growing reputation as the world’s most innovative racing league.

By joining the prestigious E1 calendar, which includes destinations across the globe, the E1 Dubrovnik GP 2025 promises a unique blend of heritage and innovation. Once the proud capital of the Republic of Ragusa, Dubrovnik is now writing a new chapter in its rich history – becoming the home of electric marine motorsport”, said Alen Bošković, Head of the Local Organising Committee.
