MIDSUMMER SCENE 2025

Midsummer Scene – Open-air theatre in Dubrovnik presents three special events

THE SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL, a comedy by Richard Brinsley Sheridan - main production

22 June till 5 July, every night (except 28 June) at 9:30pm, Fort Lovrjenac

Performed in English

Directed by: Fred Gray

It is a joy to present this sparkling comedy for the first time in English on a Croatian stage. Dubrovnik – a city with its own long memory of diplomacy, secrecy, and appearances – is the perfect setting. And Fort Lovrjenac, towering above the sea, offers an open-air intimacy ideal for a play driven by whispers, glances, and careful performances. Here, the fans flutter freely – but what's revealed beneath them is where the drama truly lies.

DRŽIĆ DAY

In celebration of Dubrovnik’s radiant literary and theatrical legacy, Midsummer Scene Festival is proud to announce a special occasion: Držić Day — a tribute to the father of Croatian drama and one of the most resounding voices of the European Renaissance, Marin Držić.

I, PEASEBLOSSOM, A re-imagined play by Tim Crouch

6th July at 9:30 pm, Fort lovrjenac

Performed in English

BOTTOM: Where’s Peaseblossom?
PEASEBLOSSOM: Ready.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Act IV, Scene I

This unique one-fairy show, based on Tim Crouch’s brilliant reimagining of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream – personally endorsed by the playwright – takes audiences on an extraordinary journey through the eyes of Peaseblossom. A minor character with just five words in the original play, Peaseblossom blossoms into vivid life in this captivating solo performance, offering a fresh, heartfelt, and humorous perspective on the magical mayhem between the Fairy King and Queen.
