TRACES OF SPACE: AN EXHIBITION OF ARTWORKS CREATED DURING THE MUSEUM OF MODERN ART DUBROVNIK’S ART WORKSHOPS

The exhibition Tragovi prostora (Traces of Space) will open at the Museum of Modern Art Dubrovnik on Thursday, 5 November, at 6 pm, featuring more than 200 artworks created during art workshops organised alongside the exhibition Resort Without a Signal by contemporary painter Matko Vekić, which was on view at the Gallery from 20 August to 18 October 2026.

As part of the educational programme, a total of 13 workshops were held, bringing together more than 200 participants, including primary and secondary school students, their teachers and professional associates, as well as members of the public.

Inspired by Matko Vekić’s exhibition, participants explored space, nature and architecture through various artistic techniques, focusing on their forms, textures and interrelationships. Following a tour of the exhibition and an exploration of the Gallery’s garden, where the practical part of the programme took place, they transferred their observations and ideas onto paper using collage, printmaking, paint and various application tools.

Alongside the artworks, the exhibition will also feature a video documenting the workshops and their activities. Visitors will thus have the opportunity to discover not only the final results but also the creative process, the different approaches taken and the ways in which participants experienced and interpreted space.

The series of art workshops ran from 21 September to 16 October and was conceived and led by Katarina Ivanišin, Museum Education Advisor at the Museum of Modern Art Dubrovnik, with the support of professional associates Petra Golušić, Museum Advisor at the Gallery, and Dora Lučić, Curatorial Assistant at the Gallery.

The exhibition Traces of Space is accompanied by a catalogue and will remain open until 19 November 2026.
