Special Traffic Regulation Zone No Longer in Effect as of 1 November

As of 1 November, all vehicles will once again be permitted to travel freely through Dubrovnik’s Special Traffic Regulation Zone. At midnight on Saturday, 31 October, the traffic light will turn green, marking the resumption of unrestricted traffic in the area surrounding the historic Old Town.

This year, the Special Traffic Regulation Zone has once again achieved its primary objectives: reducing traffic congestion, easing pressure on the busiest roads and improving traffic management throughout the City of Dubrovnik.

The effectiveness of the measures is clearly reflected in the recorded vehicle entry figures. Between 1 April and 30 September 2026, a total of 1,853,123 vehicle entries were recorded within the Zone, compared to 2,044,517 during the same period last year. This represents a reduction of 191,394 vehicle entries, demonstrating the positive impact of the special traffic regulations on traffic conditions in the city.

The establishment of the Zone forms part of Dubrovnik’s broader strategy to develop as a smart and sustainable city, with a focus on improving residents’ quality of life, enhancing traffic flow and preserving the unique character of the historic Old Town and its surrounding area.

Complementing these measures is the Park & Ride project in Pobrežje, currently under construction, which is expected to further reduce traffic congestion in the city centre
