Dubrovnik Festival Week: Rock Icons, Klapa Nights, and Open-Air Performances

The cultural programme “Through the Streets of Our City” and “Summer Events in Tourist Destinations”, organised by the Dubrovnik Tourist Board and the City of Dubrovnik, continues in the second half of August with a diverse lineup of concerts, theatre, film screenings, and traditional klapa singing.

From August 18 to 24, visitors and locals alike can enjoy evening performances across the city and nearby islands, with highlights ranging from intimate concerts to a major rock spectacle.

The week opens on Monday, August 18, with a performance by Trio Laus on the Lapad Bay promenade, followed on Tuesday by the well-known vocal ensemble Klapa Malfi at the same venue.

Friday, August 22, will feature a packed programme on three stages. In Lapad Bay, Kvartet Taliri will perform at 10 p.m., while the island of Šipan hosts a traditional Fishermen’s Night in Suđurađ with a concert by Matko and Brane. Meanwhile, Dubrovnik’s famous Banje Beach will welcome the legendary rock band Zabranjeno pušenje as part of the annual Noć Ploča.

On Saturday, August 23, audiences can enjoy the animated film “Buffalo Kids” in Mali Zaton at 8:30 p.m., while on Lopud the Kolarin Theatre Company will present the play “Matrimonijo” at the Rector’s Palace at 8 p.m. Later that night, Klapa Karaka will close the Lapad promenade programme at 10 p.m.

The week concludes on Sunday, August 24, with two standout concerts: the saxophone quartet Jovial performing at 9 p.m. in the Church of St. Nicholas on Lopud, and the renowned Klapa Sveti Juraj taking the stage at Lapad Bay tennis courts at 9:30 p.m.

With its varied programme, the festival showcases Dubrovnik’s cultural vibrancy, offering both traditional and contemporary entertainment under the summer sky.
