Opening of the photography exhibition "Photo Couture"
  1. The Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Center Zagreb and the City of Dubrovnik have the great honor and pleasure of inviting you to the official opening of the photography exhibition “Photo Couture”, the first program within the Days of Hungarian Culture in Dubrovnik.

The official opening will take place on Wednesday, September 16, at 7:00 p.m. at the Rixos Premium Dubrovnik Hotel.

The exhibition will be officially opened by Tonko Smokvina, academic painter and Director of the Dubrovnik Art Gallery. The opening will also feature a conversation with photographer Wanda Martin, moderated by Dr. Zsuzsanna Barsi, Head of Partnerships and International Programs at Art Market Budapest. The program will be hosted by Dr. Katja Bakija, Honorary Consul of Hungary.

  2. About the Exhibition

The French term haute couture refers to the highest standards of fashion, where clothing culture intertwines with the visual arts. This connection is particularly evident in fashion photography, where the boundaries between applied and independent artistic practice are becoming increasingly fluid.

At this intersection, a new generation of exceptionally talented Hungarian photographers is making its mark, creating work both for prestigious international brands and for their own artistic projects. The PHOTO COUTURE exhibition, presented for the first time at New York Fashion Week, focuses precisely on this dynamic dialogue, showcasing the outstanding quality and contemporary trends of Hungarian photography.

Artists: Dávid Ajkai, Tamás Dobos, Wanda Martin, Zoltán Tombor and Matti Varga.

Curators: Krisztina Löbl and Lilla Makláry.

The exhibition will remain open until October 3.
