Dubrovnik Once Again Named Europe's Leading Coastal Metropolitan Destination

At the 2026 World Travel Awards, Dubrovnik was once again named Europe’s Leading Seaside Metropolitan Destination. The award was accepted by Miroslav Drašković, Director of the Dubrovnik Tourist Board.

The awards ceremony took place on Saturday, 17 October, at the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay Resort in Montenegro, as part of the first-ever European World Travel Awards ceremony hosted in the country.

This recognition confirms Dubrovnik’s continued international standing as a tourist destination and provides further encouragement for the development of high-quality and sustainable tourism.

Dubrovnik also received this award in 2025 and 2023, further reinforcing its reputation in the category of Europe’s leading seaside metropolitan destinations.

Dubrovnik’s success at the World Travel Awards extends to several other prestigious accolades. In 2021, 2023 and 2024, the city was named Europe’s Leading Cruise Destination. In 2023, it also won the title of World’s Leading Seaside Metropolitan Destination.

Alongside its international tourism accolades, Dubrovnik has received numerous awards in recent years for its approach to sustainable destination management. These include the title of World’s Leading Sustainable Destination, won in 2025 at the World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards, as well as the European Green Pioneer of Smart Tourism 2026 recognition, awarded to Dubrovnik for its achievements in sustainable and smart tourism.

These accolades are the result of the ongoing efforts of the City of Dubrovnik, the Dubrovnik Tourist Board and numerous stakeholders to preserve the city’s cultural and historical heritage, enhance the quality of its tourism offer and manage visitor flows responsibly. A particularly important role in this process is played by the Respect the City project, launched in 2017, through which Dubrovnik has been systematically developing a sustainable tourism management model while safeguarding the quality of life of its residents.

This latest award further confirms Dubrovnik’s international reputation and provides additional impetus for continued efforts to develop a sustainable, high-quality and responsibly managed tourist destination.
