The Church of St. Michael in Lapad was first mentioned at the end of the 13th century.
This Romanesque chapel has undergone a series of Renaissance, Baroque, and modern interventions, which have shaped its present appearance.
Beneath the portico are the graves of the Brotherhood of St. Michael in arboribus—the oldest brotherhood in Dubrovnik. Next to the church lies a cemetery where Dubrovnik families were buried after burials inside churches were banned in the 19th century.
In close proximity to the old church, a new, modern Church of St. Michael was built in 1999.
