Prosciutto Fair – Exhibition and Tasting of Dalmatian, Drniš, Istrian and Krk Prosciutto
12th Croatian Prosciutto Days in Dubrovnik – Experts Choose the New Champion, Citizens Taste It at Gruž Market
Dubrovnik will once again be filled with the scents of the bura wind, salt, and tradition – something that cannot be learned, only inherited. At the end of April, the city will host the 12th edition of the Croatian Prosciutto Days. This event is a kind of roadshow, organized each year by the Croatian Prosciutto Cluster in a different location. Dubrovnik last hosted it back in 2018.
This is not just a tasting – it is a meeting point of knowledge, craftsmanship, and serious business. On April 24, at Hotel Lapad, experts will discuss what lies behind every slice: can production grow, how to withstand import pressure, and what place Croatian prosciutto holds on the European table. The champion will also be selected – the best of the best.
"Croatian Prosciutto Days are designed as a central meeting place for producers, experts, and everyone involved in the 'field-to-table' chain. The goal is clear – to raise quality and secure the place that Croatian prosciutto deserves," said Ante Madir, Executive Director of the Croatian Prosciutto Cluster.
Let us recall: four names, one story – Dalmatian, Drniš, Istrian, and Krk prosciutto. Each has its own character, yet they share the same philosophy, and all four are protected at the European Union level. Prosciutto has long moved beyond traditional taverns and has become a serious business in Croatia today. Still, challenges remain. "Quality is improving and meeting European standards, but producers continue to feel the pressure of imports. That is why stronger connections with tourism and hospitality are essential," Madir added.
The real prosciutto story in Dubrovnik begins on Saturday, April 25. From 9 AM, the Gruž Market becomes a meeting place for producers and those who appreciate fine food. Visitors will taste, compare, and purchase. The champion prosciutto will also be there – the one everyone in Dubrovnik will be talking about.
Producers will be present at their stands while supplies last, approximately until 2 PM.
The Dubrovnik edition of Croatian Prosciutto Days is organized with the financial support of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport, the Croatian Chamber of Economy, Dubrovnik-Neretva County, the Dubrovnik-Neretva County Tourist Board, and the Dubrovnik Tourist Board.
