The scent of a woman- Thematic city tour

In the centuries-long history of the Republic of Dubrovnik, it is hard to find traces of women. Fathers considered them family properties, and their reality consisted of forced ordination in nunneries, arranged marriages, husband's infidelity, mental and physical abuse.

Poets glorified women's beauty, scientists dedicated their works to them, but there is no tangible traces of their existence today. In the miles long historical documents, women exist only in criminal court cases or in wills.

This walk is dedication to the women from Dubrovnik's past, those whose tangible traces no longer exist but whose existence is silently present in every stone within the walls.

Thematic city tours will begin  at 9:30 am in front of the Tourist Information Center at Pile Gate, in English 🇬🇧, and at 12:30 pm in Croatian 🇭🇷, led by expert guides Lidija Begić and Vesna Barišić.
