The first interactive project that presents everyday life in Croatia during communist Yugoslavia. Using new presentation methods, visitors can discover history on their own, and our augmented reality app will reveal hidden information invisible to the naked eye.
The exhibition of the Red History Museum is divided into three parts – socialism in theory, socialism in practice, and socialism in memory. These three sections provide visitors with a detailed overview of different aspects of life in Croatia during the period of Yugoslavia governed by the Communist Union. Visitors can learn how the Communist Party was founded and how it came to power, how consumer culture developed in the unique form of Yugoslav socialism, how the Yugoslav secret services operated, and they can also listen to some of the best musical hits of that time. The Red History Museum was initiated by young local designers, historians, architects, journalists, and archaeologists, and it has been supported by citizens from all over Croatia with their donations, photos, and personal stories.
